Tony Robbins – Why we do what we do

Anthony Robbins delivers this Ted talk in which he summarises what motivates us to do what we do. Tony explains that emotions are the primary driving force from which we develop rationales for what we do. What determines our level of achievement isn’t the resources that we have access to. Some people can have everything and produce nothing whilst others strive against all of the odds to huge achievements. Tony puts forward the idea that if we can get the right emotions behind us, we can spur ourselves on to enormous feats of creativity and ingenuity. Harnessing the power of our emotions, Tony suggests that the most empowering decisions we can make in any one moment are about what we are going to focus on, the meaning that we give things and what we are going to do as a result. He invites the audience to reflect on destiny making decisions that they have made in their lives and how their lives might have been different if they’d made different decisions. At any time, we can look at the circumstances of our lives, decide what we are going to focus on and change the meaning. He also reveals the six human needs and how they motivate us.
