You are not your patterns

We all fall into patterns of all kinds. Anything that you do on a regular basis becomes a pattern and even our brain organises around them, building neural pathways to make it easier for us to repeat the same thing in the future. This is good news if you’re learning to play the piano, and not so good news if you fall into patterns that don’t support what you want. The good news is that you can break any pattern you want at any time and your brain will respond by creating a new neural pathway to support whatever new behaviour you want to put in its place. We don’t always have to make huge changes. Michele Knight explains that you can make the smallest change and still see profound results. So take one small pattern today, do something different and see what happens as a result.
