Adopt the habits of happiness
Another Ted Talk in which Buddhist monk Matthieu Ricard reveals the habits of happiness. We don’t often think about happiness – or any other emotion – as being formed by habit. But what if it is? What if we could change the way that we feel just by changing what we usually do? Brain scans show that meditation changes our brains and that changes our feelings. Meditation is just a habit anyone can adopt. A habit is just something you do repeatedly. Think about anything you do again and again, whether it’s going for a daily walk or always having a sandwich for lunch, and ask yourself how it makes you feel. Look at the thoughts you think repeatedly. It’s all about knowing what makes you feel good and doing more of it and releasing anything that doesn’t work for you.
