What The Bleep Do We Know: Addiction

Often when we talk about what we think of as being love, what we’re actually dealing with is addiction. Areas of our brain that operate when we are in the throes of addiction get activated around people and we can convince ourselves that what we are experiencing is love when in fact we’re just neurologically hooked on someone. If that relationship ends, we can come crashing to the ground. Along with that, because of the associations that build through the cross fertilisation of neural networks throughout the brain, we can literally learn to associate love with pain and anger which totally begins to distort our relationships. This clip from the movie ‘What the Bleep’ explaining the neurological nature of love and addiction and gives us a fascinating insight into what’s going on in our brains when we find ourselves helplessly hooked on someone in a way that disempowers us.
